Baby update July 20, 2006

Things are definitely looking up in the baby department. I saw the high-risk doctor at Baptist, including a special ultrasound to check growth and all that. I felt really fortunate in comparison to the other women who were seeing this doctor (lots of really significant problems, multiples, etc.), so that made me feel slightly better about being labled “high-risk.” Long story short: her growth/size is actually in the 75th percentile (they were most concerned about her size in case the high blood pressure caused her to be premature), and everything else looked exactly right. My blood pressure was down a teeny bit (but still high), but no other test results showed signs of pre-eclampsia. She said no more work for me (my summer job ended early anyway), and I have to go to the OB every week from now on. I have since been back to my regular OB in Smyrna, and the BP is totally normal now (sitting on my butt on the couch apparently works wonders), so I am doing much better now. The only other thing is that she is still breech at 31 weeks, so a C-section may happen after all (the one thing that I DON’T want because it terrifies me!). She has been in this same position for about a month, so I don’t see her doing anything quite as athletic as flipping all the way around. What do I know though…

While at Baptist, I also fought a parking garage pole (guess who won). Luckily, my dad is quite handy and fixed my boo-boo with spray paint, a sander, and his trusty Bond-o. Talk about your redneck paint job, but no complaints here at all. He also couldn’t resist pointing out that the only times he has ever had to use Bond-o on the family cars have been my fault. In my defense, the “other times” was ONE time about 10 years ago when I was learning to drive. Not in my defense, I backed my mom’s van into my dad’s Blazer in our driveway. Just thought you guys would appreciate that tidbit…

I really do have other things going on in my life besides being pregnant, but they don’t make for very good news updates. That’s all for now!
