People, I need some decorating ideas for my new kitchen. While it is very nice (with brand new linoleum–thank you apartment management people!), it is so very, very WHITE.

Any ideas? We’ll eventually have our kitchen table again, and a few things from the old house. I know it will still be WHITE, but would a big plushy rug help? I’m not very creative about these things. Here are a few pics of the old house, to give you an idea of what I usually like. The theme is BROWN with a hint of NEUTRAL, apparently. 
I’m nothing if not exotic. Please note that these photos are from the real estate listing–there is no actual danger of my home looking like this if you happen to drop by in my real life.
Vanessa, I wish I could help. I am also not very creative and have left our very, very white kitchen fairly white for the last 4 years, yikes! One larger rug, or two smaller rugs might help add a splash of color. The only other advice I have is clean the cabinets often, they get dusty and then it doesn’t want to come off. Note to self: don’t ever buy a home with white cabinets!
Will they let you paint? If so, paint the very top above the cabinets a warm gray or creamy brown and then hang some wrought iron stuff up there. I think a big rug in the kitchen is just asking for nasty funk that’s hard to clean off.
